"Autumn Bloom"


     A Change in Season is fast approaching and the Blue Whole Gallery,  will be featuring two artists whose work exemplify the natural world.  Sally Cays is a realistic water colorist whose work reveals strong contrasts and color depicting floral, still life, landscapes, portrait painting and wildlife.  While Debbie Cain carves and paints natural gourds depicting animals, nature and portrait images embellished with fiber coiling, stains, & dyes which enrich her creations.    Meet the artists and their work at the Blue Whole Gallery on First Friday Art Walk in Sequim, Washington on September 6, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm..




  

      Sally Cays is a self-taught artist whose original watercolor paintings and prints reflect the beauty she sees in nature and the world around her.  Besides being a well-liked teacher and watercolor workshop instructor, Sally also is a signature member of the "Northwest Watercolor Society".  Her work encompasses visual and realistic images of individuals and views of nature and floral compositions.  Examples of her work follow.

     Debbie Cain's gourd artwork reflects images that are varied and detailed. Her works are organic sculptures that allows her to carve, sketch and paint images on the surfaces of each gourd.  She uses various stains, dyes, wood burning and fiber coiling to create images that have depth and visual reality.  Her work depicts animals, nature as well as portraits  which reveals her skills and attention to details.  Examples follow:
