"Autumn Bloom"

     A Change in Season is fast approaching and the Blue Whole Gallery,  will be featuring two artists whose work exemplify the natural world.  Sally Cays is a realistic water colorist whose work reveals strong contrasts and color depicting floral, still life, landscapes, portrait painting and wildlife.  While Debbie Cain carves and paints natural gourds depicting animals, nature and portrait images embellished with fiber coiling, stains, & dyes which enrich her creations.    Meet the artists and their work at the Blue Whole Gallery on First Friday Art Walk in Sequim, Washington on September 6, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm..

  

      Sally Cays is a self-taught artist whose original watercolor paintings and prints reflect the beauty she sees in nature and the world around her.  Besides being a well-liked teacher and watercolor workshop instructor, Sally also is a signature member of the "Northwest Watercolor Society".  Her work encompasses visual and realistic images of individuals and views of nature and floral compositions.  Examples of her work follow.

     Debbie Cain's gourd artwork reflects images that are varied and detailed. Her works are organic sculptures that allows her to carve, sketch and paint images on the surfaces of each gourd.  She uses various stains, dyes, wood burning and fiber coiling to create images that have depth and visual reality.  Her work depicts animals, nature as well as portraits  which reveals her skills and attention to details.  Examples follow:

"Light & Water"

     Blue Whole Gallery member artists Lynne Armstrong and Deborah Harrison will present their artwork in the Gallery's windows on First Friday August 2, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm.  The exhibit will feature the elements of Light and Water showing how they can reflect both the power and beauty found in Nature for all to enjoy and appreciate. 

  Lynne Armstrong will present a series of paintings that focus on the title "The Beach Series".  This exploration gives her the chance to allow people to view the land as it meets the sea.  For her, this union is a place of great spiritual significance.  Showing her point of view she will use the medium of acrylic to help reveal the importance that these elements of land and sea have to living one's life.  Examples of her work follow.

Deborah Harrison is a glass-water sculptor and her artwork will highlight her exhibit of "the Dance of Water & Light".  This series of "watersculptures" are fountains that feature water as their central element.  Her work incorporates marble, natural stones, stained glass and ceramic which are illuminated from within. Her most recent work include multiple layers of a special stained glass called "waterglass".  With its rippling undulations, waterglass gives the impression of gazing into a watery realm. These inspirations reflect the wild rivers of the Pacific Northwest which have captivated Deborah. Examples follow:

Inspiring Animals at Blue Whole Gallery!

"Beautiful Animals"

     Award-winning artist, Jeannine Chappell of the Blue Whole Gallery, will showcase her digital paintings of animal images and her mixed media paintings in the Gallery's window.  Also, the artwork of Inmates of the Clallam Bay Correction Center will be featured as well to support WAG (Welfare of Animals Guild) by making and donating their artwork. 

     This exhibit will take place on First Friday July 5th, 2019 from 5 - 8 pm at the Blue Whole Gallery.  Its an open invitation to the community to join with us to admire and contribute to the pursuit of creativity and originality in Art.  

 Jeannine Chappell artwork encompasses digital paintings which reveals her spontaneity and computer capabilities.  Her work spans ten years and predominately centers on "animal images, revealing both their beauty and their power".  Also, she will show her mixed media paintings as well to give a fully rounded view of her artistic abilities.  Examples follow:

      The Inmates of Clallam Bay Correction Center are excited to show their art work to support and help WAG.  Making and donating their artwork, be it beading, drawing or showing their craftsmanship will help support a program where neglected dogs are trained professionally and is a way of giving back to the Community. Gallery artist member Ken Dvorak initiated this exhibit. Examples follow:

     The Blue Whole Gallery begins its 22nd year serving the Sequim Community by presenting original quality Art.  Bridget Baker, Greg Felando, Lucinda Hayes, and Nancy Lawrence, member artists, will curate the group show in the front windows with premier pieces. 

     The Art will feature beautiful shades of blue with rich variety and contrasting styles, a tapestry of the Gallery's 22 years.   Everyone in the community is invited to the opening reception on First Friday Art Walk at the Gallery on June 7, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm. Diversity at the Blue Whole Gallery!

Art in an Aqua Tone

     The display windows of the Blue Whole Gallery will showcase the diversity and varied approaches by two fine artists, Carol Janda and Stacey Martin-Lopez during First Friday Art Walk on May 3, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm in Sequim, Washington. 
     Carol, a well known teacher and artist, will display paintings of waterscapes as well as 3-dimensional clay works reflecting a touch of nature.  While Stacey will exhibit works with graphite which incorporate vibrant colors of gouache, an opaque water color, that will include aqua tones.  Meet both artists who will gladly share their inspirations with you at the Gallery on First Friday or you can see their display throughout the month of May.


    Carol Janda's paintings depict the unique beauty of the Olympic Peninsula with views of mountains, waterfalls, seascapes and people enjoying nature at its best.  Her two-dimensional works along with 3-dimensional stoneware pottery of statues and vessels with elements of nature will demonstrate her multi-directional approach to art and reveal what can be captured and recreated.      Stacey Martin-Lopez will be exhibiting paintings reflecting her long-standing expertise in gouache allowing her to present subject matter influenced by the Pacific Northwest and by visions from a beautiful mind.  Much of her inspiration comes from having grown up with a father and twin sister who were artists in their own right.  Using graphite, and experimenting with a mixture of water color and gouache she will display images that have inspired her and revealed her interests and views.  Examples follow.
