Expressionism,
progression of learning
Two exceptional artists will be featured on First Friday, March 1st, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm. at the Blue Whole Gallery. They are Mary Franchini and Terry Grasteit, two cutting edge artists who explore new elements in abstract painting that reveal their skills in expressing values, ideas and imagination. Explore their views by visiting the Gallery and see how different possibilities and relationships can be created and changed.
Mary Franchini artistic images maybe realistic, impressionistic, abstract or non-representational, yet reflect her experimental nature. For her upcoming show at the Blue Whole Gallery, she will focus on works that were once "Old" but "New Again" as she applies pastels to change their values and meaning.
To her, paintings are like "time capsules" reflecting her skills from the past but regenerated with changes showing Mary's learning in the present. Examples follow.
Terry Grasteit artistic goal is to create paintings which are evocative, expressive and colorful. His preferred artistic genre is abstract expressionism as it provides him with the widest range of options. Using abstraction and the elements of painting, he tries to create a vision which invites a viewer to participate in the creative process with him.
Art is a context that emulates life, changeable and always evolving and for Terry his education in art and psychology provides a framework for introspective exploration. Painting gives him that avenue of exploration. Examples of his work follows:
