Meet these artists and their artwork which challenge each of us to be creative in our lives.

Lynne Armstrong is a artist whose mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylic and clay.  As a painter Lynne tries to instill in her artwork the elements of light, its movement and effect on forms in order to capture what is being viewed.  A part of Lynne's efforts is to show reality in a re-imagined way and thus capture a personal view of life in a timeless way.  That imagination can be seen in the following works.

"The Red Pitcher"

"The Luncheon Party"

Along with picturing still life and landscapes, Lynne tries to convey a personal element in her art work that she shares with others along with her enchantment with gardens, natural settings and floral arrangements.  The results can be seen below.

"Chloe cutting Artichokes"

"Artichoke Thistle 1"

"Artichoke Thistle 2"

Steve Wry is a ceramic artist whose work expresses his feeling about life found in the mountain, woods and the sea that encompasses the Olympic Peninsula.  His imagination and creativity can be seen in his work where each piece shows elements of whimsy as well as a possible story portrayed through his hands. Samples of his works are seen below.

Imagination Unleashed
"Where's the beef"

"I love fishing season"

"And you think you have problems!"

Steve's characters are varied and diverse and his array of creatures reveal a sense of humor. Using his hands he forms and shapes each piece so that they take on their own personalities which often harbor elements of fantasy as well as seriousness.  Steve uses various techniques including throwing, hand building and coiling which allow him to create an imaginative world on to itself.  Here are some of the results.

"Private Conversations"

"Kate"

"Lacy"

Human imagination is rarely as varied and diverse as it is with the ceramic work by Steve Wry.  His creatures bring out laughter as well as a hidden personality.  Visit such a fantasy world at the Blue Whole Gallery and enjoy meeting the artist and his artwork on First Friday September 2, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm. Also, view his efforts throughout the month at the Gallery.
