Technical and Artistic Skills

Evening View of the Blue Whole Gallery

Imaginative Techniques Requiring
Artistic Skills

The work of two artists, Marilynn Evans and Janine Hegy will be showcased in the windows of the Blue Whole Gallery during the month of February.  Their art blends both imagination and technical skill.  Marilynn's work involves digital interpretation of her photos using an artistic approach to enhance the image.  While Janine Hegy strives to create jewelry & stone sculptures into a creative statement of art.  To appreciate their skills we invite you to meet them at the Gallery on First Friday, February 5th from 5 to 8 pm. and their art work throughout the month.

"Just a Fantasy"

Marilynn Evans has traveled abroad and in the Untied States resulting in many photographs capturing the views and memories of what she has seen.  To make these photos more relevant and meaningful she explores new methods of digital photography.  Using her computer as a canvas and the mouse as a brush she examines new methods of interpretation to help create her own style.  This exploration gives her a chance to use an artistic approach to morph a photo into an image, telling a story or revealing memories past.

"March of the Terra Cotta Warriors"
One approach is to combine multiple photographs into a singular view as seen in the work "March of the Terra Cotta Warriors".  This image combines three photos: one showing a singular warrior; a multitude of them; and the Great Wall of China.

Besides combining multiple photos Marilynn also uses digital collages in which she collects various elements and blends them into a single image as seen in the selection below.

"Fairies Outside Window"

Marilynn also sees photos as a way of recreating past memories that are not easily forgotten or should they be.  Combining multiple images on a photo Marilynn conveys a story or a faded memory tinged with compassion or sorrow.  Her example below gives us a visit into the world of human experiences.

"Bridge to Memories"

Expand your vision in art and its multiple layers of creativity by viewing the digital art work of Marilynn Evans by visiting the Blue Whole Gallery.  Meet the artist and her work on First Friday, February 5th, from 5 to 8pm at the Gallery and throughout the month.

Rock Wall 200 feet "Garden Wrap"
To say the least Janine Hegy has a way with rock walls that take advantage of each stone.  They create finished composition formed of their individual shapes and natural colors.  Her work as a sculptor and jeweler help her bring a singular idea or focus forward into reality.  Whether it be a rock wall or a piece of jewelry, her aim is to share the results and delight others.  Examples of her work can be seen in the following pieces using stone, metal as well as wood to enhance the charm of a necklace or an earring.

Brass & Embossed Silver earring

Janine Hegy expresses her creativity with natural elements in nature which are used in a composition giving them a chance to be fully appreciated.  Her work also encompasses the art of a sculptor as seen in the following example
