Evening View of the Blue Whole Gallery

Woodn't It be Amazing!

A special group showing by seven wood artists from the Blue Whole Gallery will decorate the Gallery's windows with an eclectic array of work for all to enjoy and admire. Each artisan will display pieces that they have either carved, turned, painted or reclaimed from wood.

Hurricane Ridge - Olympic National Park

As a group these artists have captured the creativity and versatility of wood which comes to our community from trees and plants of the Pacific Northwest. This collection will be presented throughout the month of January beginning on January 1st, New Year's day.  An open reception will be offered on  Friday January 8, from, 5 to 8 pm where you can meet the artists and view their artwork in person  as part of the Sequim Art Walk.   Below are sample works of each artist:

"Game Show"
Karin Anderson, a mixed media artist whose artistic focus centers on contemporary realism to abstract expressionism which includes found objects of reclaimed wood in assemblages.

"Navajo Dream"

Carl Baker
A wood artist whose goal is to capture the essence found in wood that he can see and feel in each piece.

"Kalimba"

Robert (Bud) Bowling
A mixed media artist striving to use natural and found objects that when combined in concert with various mediums can reveal new meanings.

"Feathered Horse"

Debbie Cain
A gourd carver and painter whose artistic imagination has no limits when she follows her heart.

"Selkie"

Christian M. Speidel
a wood sculptor who regards each wooden object as a creative challenge just waiting to be released.

"What Have We Become?"

David Tinsley

David is a wood artist creating figures in motion and delicate still life with drift wood.  He finds an inner connection with each subject.
